Step 1. Place your right hand on the piano, and on the white key that is before a group of two black keys, place your thumb. This is called middle C and is almost central of the entire piano. Keep your hand in an arched position whenever you play. Your thumb is called your first finger, index is your second finger and so on.

Step 3. Time for the left hand. Following the same steps as listed before, place your left hand on the C lower than the middle C. This distance from C to C is called an octave as it is eight notes in distance.
